Terms of Use

These Terms of Use ("Terms") govern your access to and use of Owemint (the "App"). By accessing or using the App, you agree to be bound by these Terms.

1. Purpose of the App

Owemint is a local-first debt tracking application intended to help users maintain personal records, including:

  • amounts owed to the user,
  • amounts the user owes to others, and
  • related dates, notes, and optional attachments.

The App is provided for personal organizational and record-keeping purposes.

2. Local-First Operation (No Internet Required)

The App is designed so that core functionality operates without internet access.

Core records are stored locally on the user’s device. Creating entries, updating balances, viewing history, and reviewing reminders do not require an active internet connection.

On supported Apple devices, files stored in Owemint's document container may also be accessible through the Files app or Finder file sharing. This is part of the app's local file-access behavior and does not mean the App uploads those files to our servers.

3. Permissions and Purpose Limitation

The App requests permissions only when required for user-initiated features.

Notifications Permission

  • Purpose: Provide local reminder notifications for due dates and follow-ups configured by the user.
  • Use Limitation: Notification scheduling is based on user-configured reminder settings and local record data.
  • Optionality: Tracking features remain available if notifications are disabled.

Biometric / Device Authentication Permission (where available)

  • Purpose: Enable optional application-lock and access-control features.
  • Use Limitation: Authentication checks are performed through device security mechanisms to verify access.
  • Optionality: Users may choose not to enable lock features.

Photo / Media Permission (if attachment feature is used)

  • Purpose: Allow the user to attach selected images/files to records.
  • Use Limitation: Selected files are used only as record attachments.
  • Optionality: The App remains fully usable without attachments.

4. User Responsibilities

You are responsible for:

  • maintaining the security of your device,
  • reviewing the accuracy of your records, and
  • using reminder features lawfully and responsibly.

5. No Professional Advice

The App is an organizational tool and does not provide financial, legal, tax, accounting, or other professional advice.

6. Availability and Changes

We may modify, improve, suspend, or discontinue all or part of the App at any time.

If these Terms are updated, the revised version will be published with an updated "Last updated" date.

Continued use of the App after updated Terms are published constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms.

7. In-App Purchases and Billing

Owemint Pro is sold as a one-time in-app purchase (non-consumable lifetime unlock).

Purchases are processed by platform billing systems:

  • Apple App Store billing (managed through App Store Connect for app operations/reporting), and/or
  • Google Play billing (managed through Play Console for app operations/reporting).

RevenueCat is used as our purchase-management layer to validate purchase status, manage entitlement access, and support restore-purchase flows across reinstalls.

Additional billing terms:

  • We do not directly process or store your full payment card details.
  • Pricing, taxes, refund handling, and payment terms are governed by Apple or Google storefront policies and your store account terms.
  • If refunds are requested or granted, they are handled through the relevant store platform.
  • Restore purchases requires the same platform account used to buy the product.
  • Pro entitlement access may be limited or revoked if a store transaction is reversed, refunded, canceled for policy reasons, or otherwise invalidated by the platform.

8. Disclaimer and Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, the App is provided "as is" and "as available," without warranties of any kind. We are not liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages arising from or related to use of the App.
